Who we are
What personal data we collect and why we collect it
After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment. Comments are stored in with Siteground.
When you get in touch using the contact form on our website, we will have access to your name, email address, website (if this is applicable and if you choose to fill this in ) and your comment. This information is stored by Siteground. Your information will not be shared with anyone other than the My Joyful Parenting team (that’s us, Cindy, Amber and Laura) and once we have dealt with your message, we will delete it and no longer have access ourselves to your contact details.
When you visit My Joyful Parenting, a small text file is downloaded into the device that you used to view the website (E.g. computer, tablet or smartphone). This helps our website recognise you and helps enhance your experience. If you leave a comment on our website you may opt-in to save your name, email address and website in cookies. The purpose of this is to make it easier to leave comments in the future because you won’t have to fill in the details again next time you comment. These cookies will last for one year.
Who we share your data with
Data collected through the contact form will be available only to us (Cindy, Amber and Laura). Any other data collected about you is only available to us in an anonymised form, for example, as visitor stats. This information is used to help us improve our website and make sure we meet the needs of those who visit My Joyful Parenting as best as we can. No data from this website is downloaded by us or stored outside of the cloud services mentioned above.
How long we retain your data
Following the way our web host works, if you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. New comments need approval by the My Joyful Parenting team. By keeping the comment and metadata indefinitely, it means we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. As noted in the section on cookies, cookies are held for a period of one year.
What rights you have over your data
Your data is yours, and you have a right to know what information we hold about you. If you have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where we send your data
While we won’t send your data anywhere, Gravitar’s automated spam detection service may check comments left on the website.
